Falconers spend time training their birds, building trust and teaching them to return. The bird is released to pursue prey, which varies depending on the bird type. Falconers use tools like leashes, hoods, and gloves. Falconry dates back thousands of years and was practiced by royalty in ancient Egypt, Persia, and medieval Europe. Today, falconry is mainly a sport and a conservation effort. Many falconers breed and rehabilitate birds of prey.
