Shimba Hills Safari

Day 1

Early morning pick-up from your hotel and after a briefing, start ascending south to Shimba Hills, as you continue the landscape will gradually change from coastal plains to the rising terrain of the Shimba Hills. This section of the drive allows you to see the rural areas of the Kenyan coast and probably some beautiful views of the Kenyan coast. You will see local villages, farms and the vegetation will become denser, signaling the transition to the coastal rainforest environment of the reserve, Shimba Hills reserve features a lush coastal rainforest, providing a distinct experience. It is renowned for its population of the rare and beautiful sable antelope A picturesque waterfall that offers opportunities for hiking and enjoying the natural beauty of the area with opportunities of seeing some of the wildlife found in this park for example, the elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and various bird species. Once in the park, game drive is enroute to the lodge for check in and departure for the hike to Sheldrick Falls, with an opportunity to swim in the falls. After which return to the lodge for lunch and a brief siesta before embarking on an afternoon game drive in the park. Return to the lodge as the sun sets.

The Shimba Hills Lodge is the only ‘Tree Lodge’ within Kenyas Coastal rain forest. An award-winning design when built in 1986, it was commissioned as a coastal alternative to the famous Tree Tops. Throughout its construction, emphasis was upon natural materials with cedar wood dominating resulting in a warm and relaxing interior.

Day 2

Early morning game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast followed by checkout.

Depart for Mombasa arriving in the afternoon.
